The following email was sent to 6th - 12th grade students Wednesday, March 18-

Some days certainly go better than others. My intention was to send this email to you this morning; however, when I arrived at the school I learned the internet was down! For those of you that don't know here is our situation;

Yesterday afternoon the Governor announced that schools would stop delivering traditional face-to-face classroom instruction effective immediately and until the end of the school year. In effect she "closed schools" BUT she also directed schools to provide "Continuous Learning Opportunities" for our students. Franklin County had already issued an order closing our facilities and operations until March 30. With that deadline in place we had already set to work on fullying sanitizing and cleaning the buildings. That is part of why everyone was to stay out of the building until at least Tuesday of this week. We have begun developing our plan to provide delivery of "continuous learning" to all of you.

It will likely use some of the following delivery methods.

1. Face to face instruction to small groups of 10 or less.

2. Online instruction to groups / classes and even individuals.

3. Packet Completion instruction where teachers will provide work for you to complete and return.

The "Social Side" of the educational system is a concern for most of you, and unfortunately I don't have good answers. Prom has been cancelled. At this time there are no concerts or events scheduled. We must comply with the limits set on gatherings. We simply can't do that and have prom, or a concert. I wish I had a time frame as to when life will return to normal but I do not. If you have ideas, thoughts, or suggestions for me concerning how we can include social events and opportunities into our planning please email me. I want your guidance and input.

Expect to hear from someone at the school other than me by the end of next week concerning how we will provide schooling to you. When you hear your parents mention receiving a phone call from me ask them for the details of the call. The auto calling system will be the system I utilize the most to communicate with families during this challenging time. Unfortunately for you, the call will go to your parents not to you. You will have to encourage your parents to share the information from school with you instead of the other way around! Have a great rest of you Spring Break.

Be sure to email me your thoughts and concerns.

Mr. Spencer
