During Dakota’s time here at Central Heights High School she was an active member of FFA, FCCLA, and a member of the Volleyball and Softball teams. After graduation, Dakota plans to attend Fort Scott Community College to study cosmetology starting in July. Dakota’s fondest memory at Central Heights will be counting down the days to get out! Her advice to the underclassmen would be, “Do your work! Also, I promise high-school won’t be the best years of your life, no matter who tells you that. Things will get better.” Congratulations Dakota! You made it! We are excited for you to start the next chapter of your life.

A message from KSHSAA. Please read and watch! There is no doubt, we have an official shortage and need the help of those who employ officials to help recruit new officials. In previous years, teachers made up a large number of our officials, that number has dropped dramatically. Coaches used to officiate sports they didn’t serve as a coach in order to give back to students. Schools want to continue to have teams be able to compete, but we need officials in order to have the games. Please consider showing this video to your students, teachers, parent groups or anyone you feel has the characteristics to be an official. “Without officials it’s JUST RECESS.” https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5rb726Kfjt4

Phoebe Hutchinson has spent her time here at Central Heights High School participating in Choir, the Talent Show, and has served as a Special Needs Bowling Assistant. After graduation she plans to attend Allen County Community College and pursue her associates degree in music. Following that she would like to continue her education at Kansas University where she will pursue a career in post-secondary music education. Phoebe says her most meaningful experience here at Central Heights has been how the administration and her fellow classmates were willing to provide support when she thought everyone was against her. When asked what advice Phoebe would give to underclassmen it would be, “Don't let people challenge what you know to be true and right. If you have values, if you have thoughts and beliefs, then stand up for them. It doesn't matter who it is, no one has the right to make you feel that your thoughts or ideas or beliefs are insignificant. You are worthy of your feelings and you have every right to shut down anyone who tries to directly put them down. YOU are your OWN person.” Congratulations Phoebe! Keep working hard to achieve your dreams!
