Today, some very dedicated and motivated FFA members traveled to Alma, KS to compete in the Livestock Judging and Food Science Career Development Events. The Livestock team had already done well enough to earn a trip to state at an earlier competition, but went to get more experience before their state later this month. This team placed 17th in a very competitive and challenging CDE. Mitchell Snow led the way in 49th place. Other members were Cooper Tush, Hal Higbie and Kord Stroup.
The Food Science team has been trying to qualify for state and today was their last opportunity. They have been working hard for the last few weeks and it paid off today. The team placed 1st in the intermediate division (would have placed 3rd if they were in the senior division). Lizabeth Alvarez placed 1st (I believe this is her first FFA medal), Reed Compton placed 3rd (his first FFA medal), Gage Peine placed 4th, Landon Lickteig placed 14th, Payton Miller 17th, and London Marquette was 31st.
We look forward to seeing both of these teams and the other 7 qualifying teams from CHS FFA compete in Tonganoxie Friday and at State on April 28-30.
