A few weeks before Spring Break, once again, our 8th-grade students had the incredible opportunity to work alongside and learn from the amazing clients at COF. This experience is so valuable because it teaches an important lesson—intelligence comes in many forms. Academic excellence is just one kind; skills, creativity, and unique perspectives are equally important, just like the characters in the short story "Flowers for Algernon", or perhaps even people that sit in the same lunchroom as us! This visit was a powerful reminder to never judge a book by its cover—you never know who might teach you something new! Our students impressed every adult there with their thoughtful conversations and open hearts. We hope this experience broadened their perspectives, deepened their empathy, and sparked new opportunities for connection. A huge thank you to COF for welcoming us once again! The hard work and the heart work are second to none!

Today some of our sophomores toured the Goppert Eastern Kansas Rural Technology Center in Garnett to learn more about the HVAC & Welding programs offered there through NCCC. We even had a surprise sighting of a recent CH graduate who has continued their education in the Welding program!

Today CHHS Lighthouse students attending New Horizon Ranch as part of a leadership group completed a continued lesson on Communication playing a good 'ole fashioned game of "Equine Billiards." The activity uncovered some truths about communication in a non-traditional way, which led to some great discussions and revelations! Bravo!

🌟Our middle school leadership group is on the move! Not only do we believe in taking care of our school, but we love to give back to our community! Here are just a few pictures from our Prairie Paws visit today. The girls made "octopus dog toys" for the shelter dogs. 🐩🐕 Do you know of an opportunity for our middle school kiddos to give back? Let us know! 📢
